Wilson Ekwerekwu Bags Honorary Doctorate, Community Heroes Award [READ DETAILS]

A renowned entrepreneur and community service leader, Hon. Wilson Chukwudi Ekwerekwu has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Community Heroes Award by the Integrated Business School Nigeria in collaboration with Pax Bonum Foundation for the Needy and Global Times News Agency Europe.

Hon. Ekwerekwu has consistently displayed good sportsmanship and patriotism which has indisputably earned him this distinguished global award. The honor was a furtherance recognition of his selfless contributions to community development.

The Award Banquet with the theme: “Becoming a Change Leader”, took place at Delta State University Abraka on Thursday 14th July and was well attended by dignitaries from different sectors.

A welcome address by the Executive Director Pax Bonum Foundation for the Needy Very Rev. Fr. Paul Arinze Obi averred that nominees for the distinguished award are individuals making a change or leading change initiatives in their various communities. “Our various esteemed awardees are leaders who have used the process to influence the attitudes, behaviors, and thoughts of others. They can set things in the right direction by helping others see beyond what the eyes can see and making everyone aware of the challenges”, he noted.

While urging nominees not to relent in efforts in their services to community development, he maintained that the award banquet is a medium to appreciate their selfless services and a call to other members of the public to emulate as good labor pays.

He emphasized that leadership plays a very big role in achieving social change because it is not possible to unite and inspire a group of people without a good leader. “Good leadership makes society into a positive and content society; please keep leading the change”, he added!

While responding to newsmen, Hon. Ekwerekwu expressed his gratitude to God and applauded the organizers for finding him worthy of this award. He dedicated the duo awards to God almighty, my mother Chief Barr Mrs Caroline Ekwerekwu (ONWA), acknowledging the encouragement, and platform reposed on him by His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Save the Girl Child Advocacy Africa, the International Human Rights Commission, and most importantly, Atiku Support Organization, on implementing some of the programs that contributed to his emergence of the award.

Vincent Onyegaegbochi Okoye (born 23rd April) is a Nigerian blogger, writer, entrepreneur and a librarian. Born and raised in a Catholic Family from NRI in anaocha local Government Area of Anambra state, Nigeria, Graduated from Delta state university, Abraka, in the year 2018 where he studied Library and Information Science.
