There was wide jubilation at Achalla Community in Awka North LGA following the conferment of chieftaincy title on the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Iyom Uche Ekwunife, in appreciation of her legislative strides.
The well thought out AFA EJI EJEMBA NA ACHALLA title was one of the special activities to mark the annual Iru-Ji festival and celebrate the first anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Osita Sunny Nwokedi, on the throne.
The event which was held at Community Primary School, Achalla were thrilled by different masquerades and cultural dance groups
In his welcome speech, the Prime Minister of the community, Rt. Hon. John Nwokoye described Ekwunife as a great woman and uncommon legislator who the entire community were happy to welcome into their cabinet, adding that the title was earned based on the senator’s giant strides in the National Assembly.
According to Hon. Nwokoye, “Ekwunife has constructed the first phase of Nwokedi road which was impassable two years ago and also completed the reconstruction of Blocks of classrooms at the Community Primary School.”
The prime minister further assured the senator that the community will vote 100% for her to enable her continue with the good work she is doing for her constituents.
While conferring the Chieftaincy title, Igwe Nwokedi noted that Ekwunife’s representation has been highly beneficial to the community, noting that the community was honouring the federal lawmaker because she remembered them.
The traditional ruler recounted how the community wrote a commendation letter in appreciation of the road project attracted by the federal lawmaker. He gave his royal blessings to Ekwunife’s re-election bid.
In her appreciation message, Ekwunife who was emotionally overwhelmed eulogized the traditional ruler as one of the youngest and brightest in the state, adding that she is happy because the community has honoured her with a special chieftaincy title. While stating that she will reciprocate the kind gesture from the community, the A-grade lawmaker assured that the second phase of the Nwokedi road will be commissioned and completed.
The federal lawmaker sent heartfelt felicitations to the good people of Achalla on the success of their annual Iru-Ji festival celebration and congratulated the traditional ruler on his first year on the throne of his ancestors.
